Director Michael Paul Jones’ most notable work features real people, wild places and authentic stories. His calm demeanor consistently draws the best performances out of talent, and his positive attitude is a welcome addition on any set.
Jones began his career in broadcast news, working for ABC, where he won two Emmy’s and a APTRA award for news journalism. He moved to Hollywood shortly thereafter, assisting Tony Scott on the features Man on Fire, Domino, and Deja Vu. He went on to perfect his chosen craft in the camera department, working alongside Paul Cameron and Dion Beebe.
Current day, Jones directs commercials and regularly shoots second units on feature films. In 2019 and 2020, he earned 4 American Advertising Awards with his work for Nissan and Airstream. He has collaborated on projects with Toyota, Ford, Subaru, Chevy, Nissan, Nike, Target, JCPenny, Fjallraven, NorthFace, Patagonia, Yeti, Athleta, Oakley and NBC Indy 500. In the music industry, Jones has filmed with Tony Bennett, and with Beck for his Album of the Year, Morning Phase. He recently shot second unit on “The Upside”, starring Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart, and “Birdbox”, the Netflix sensation starring Sandra Bullock.
Should you ask, Jones would likely attribute his grace and gentleness to the kindness of his wife, Amanda, and the daily delights his young family brings. This, and the peaks, rivers and valleys that provide the backdrop for much of his most breathtaking work.
